The BIA Baldy View Chapter’s newly formed Trade-Labor-Workforce Committee has partnered with the San Bernardino County Community College District and San Bernardino County Workforce Investment Board to identify ways to confront the significant shortage of skilled construction labor throughout the County.
On Friday September 29th, the committee hosted a “BIA Jobs Exploration Day” to highlight careers in the home building industry. Over 70 job seekers, students and training instructors attended the event at SBCCD’s Applied Technology Training Center from 9:00am to 11:30am. Attendees heard presentations by 7 BIA member companies, followed by a company meet and greet.

Addressing the skills gap and shortage of labor in the home building industry is a top priority for the BIA Baldy View Government Affairs team. We will be evolving the event page (www.biabuild.com/jobs) to include company profiles and career openings at BIA member companies, ultimately becoming the primary website to find local jobs in the home building industry.
Moving forward we will continue to seek innovative solutions and partner with training and job placement organizations to address our regions severe skilled labor shortage.
