On May 12th the BIABV Government Affairs team and past president Randal Lewis, Lewis MC., facilitated a tour of the Mill Creek Wetlands and Chino Preserve with the Governor’s Office of Planning and Research (OPR). The tour was and excellent opportunity to highlight to the State the unique and innovative ways new development is managing storm water capture and ground filtration. The Mill Creek Wetlands: Recreation and Restoration Demonstration Project is a unique man-made project that creates, protects and restores the native ecosystems and has the ability to treat approximately 2,050 acre-feet of water run-off per year. Also participating in the tour were representatives from Regional Water Control Board- Region 8, Santa Ana Watershed Project Authority (SAWPA) and the NMC Builders. The tour concluded with a roundtable discussion on statewide regulatory issues, new development in the Inland Empire and regional economic challenges.
