Home ownership is a central pillar of the American Dream and a major life accomplishment for San Bernardino County residents.
However, the decreased availability and affordability of new homes is threatening the American Dream in San Bernardino County. Due to the lack of new home construction, San Bernardino County will face a shortage of 65,000 homes by 2019.
New home building not only helps address the County’s housing shortage, but also serves as an economic engine and job creator. If just two-thirds of the 65,000 new homes needed are built, the direct economic impact would surge over $2,000,000,000 this year alone.
